Author name: @Dan (ISO1200)

Swiss-born and globally seasoned, Dan Hostettler has spent over 35 years at the heart of the photographic craft. His journey has taken him from the focused environment of his own portrait studio in Prague to commissioned works across 15 countries. Drawing on his Swiss roots and international career, he works fluently in German, French, and English. Throughout those decades, Dan’s career hasn’t been about chasing digital trends or the “daily circus” of the modern photography industry. Instead, it has been a long-term commitment to the private portrait – a discipline that relies on a deep understanding of people and the ability to capture the right narrative at the exact right moment. Today, Dan remains an active practitioner, shooting for a selective, invitation-only circle of private clients. This ongoing work ensures his guidance is never based on academic theory or fleeting “hacks,” but on a refined, practical language of photography he uses every day. He acts as a peer-level mentor for the dedicated hobbyist and the ambitious beginner – those who view photography as a meaningful, lifelong pursuit rather than a race for social media validation. By stripping away the “gear fetish” and the “hustle” of the professional world, Dan offers his students a reliable, logical framework grounded in his innate Swiss sense of precision. He has already navigated the complexities of the craft, so his students don’t have to guess. His mission is to help others create “Legacy Assets”: timeless portraits of the people who truly matter, built to hold their value and story for the next 50 years.
